Last Thursday was the largest evening ever for Tech Tinker! Thank you to all the YCP students and faculty who attended. Circuits, drones, 3-D printed heads, and physics experiments, it was great fun!
Dr. Nicole Hesson and I received a grant from the York County Community Foundation to support our work with project-based service learning and capstone teams. The grant will support a student researcher for the project and capital costs for the Goode School Automated Greenhouse designed by YCP Engineering students.
Tech Girlz, a STEM outreach for middle school girls, was a great success this weekend. YCP students help works on photo editing in GIMP, physical computing with Arduino, and electronic circuits with LittleBits. Thanks to the YCP students, Martin Library, and United Fiber and Data. Dr. Nicole Hesson (Education) and I have received a Great to Greater Grant from the Office of the President to engage engineering and education students in community-based service projects. Grant funds will go towards two new capstone projects: an automated greenhouse at Goode School in York City, and assistive technologies for employees with mental and physical difficulties at Shadowfax Corp. Education students will support the project by creating custom science curriculum for teachers at Goode to support the greenhouse.
